Our Sweetener: Glycine + Reb M
Clean sweetness. Zero sugar. No stevia aftertaste

Hydration should taste great without the weird aftertaste. That’s why we sweeten with a glycine-based (amino acid) sweetener and a pinch of Rebaudioside M (Reb M)—for a balanced, sugar-free finish you’ll actually love.

Why glycine?

Gentle sweetness with a purpose

Glycine is a naturally occurring amino acid that brings a light, clean sweetness—no calories, no carbs, and no syrupy vibes. It pairs beautifully with electrolytes and keeps the flavor crisp and refreshing.

Meet Reb M: The smooth One

Reb M is one specific steviol glycoside—a single, purified molecule that delivers “sugar-like” sweetness without the bitter or licorice notes people associate with stevia products. In nature, Reb M shows up in tiny amounts in sugar cane, rice, and stevia leaf —about ~0.1% of the dried stevia leaf. This is why modern ingredient makers isolate or produce it specifically for its clean taste. PMC+1

And for the science fans: researchers have identified more than 40 distinct steviol glycosides in Stevia rebaudiana. Reb A and stevioside are common; Reb M is one of the rarer, better-tasting “next-gen” ones.

“But I’m sensitive to stevia…”

Let’s talk plants, pollen, and what matters

Stevia, the plant, lives in the Asteraceae (ragweed/daisy) family, which is why some folks with ragweed allergies say stevia products bug them. That’s a plant-protein cross-reactivity thing—not an inevitability of every stevia-related ingredient.

Because Reb M is a single purified molecule (not the whole leaf or “stevia extract”), it doesn’t bring along the broader plant proteins linked to ragweed cross-reactivity, and many stevia-sensitive people report they tolerate Reb M differently. If you have known allergies, check with your healthcare provider first—safety first, always. National Library of Medicine.

How we label (and why we don’t say “stevia”)

Using the right name is part of clean labeling

Regulators want ingredient lists to use the common or usual name. In the U.S., that means declaring “rebaudioside M” or “steviol glycosides,” not a generic “stevia” unless you’re using stevia leaf/leaf extract. Health Canada says the same: acceptable common names for the broader extract are “Stevia Extract/Stevia Leaf Extract,” and brands may also specify a single, properly isolated glycoside (e.g., Rebaudioside M). That’s why you’ll see us say “Reb M (a steviol glycoside)”—and also why we can confidently message “no stevia leaf extract.”

We’re stevia-leaf-extract-free on purpose. Cleaner taste, clearer label.

The Insaltd take

We kept the sweetness simple: glycine for gentle roundness + Reb M for that sugar-like spark. No sugar. No stevia leaf extract. Just a refreshingly clean flavor that makes better hydration a no-brainer.
